Fearless Innovation Together

It has been a busy Summer and Fall in Maupin, Oregon with an amazing amount of work by amazing partners. We are very close to fulfilling Holly Mile's dream of being able to compete on a track her Senior Year at South Wasco County High School in 2022.

There are some benefits to technology when you receive updates about what you were doing 1-2-5-10 years ago.

As I was about to write this blog I received a few photos thanks to Google from 2 years ago this week.

The photos showed the a small group of people participating in the IncubatorU Imagine Session mapping out why this town needed a track and the values that are part of the DNA.

During this session we had the Miles Family, Mayor Lynn Ewing, Don Jacklin,Stan Kelsey, Ron White and a Member of Maupin's Garden Club that shared their dreams and desires of what this could do for the community.

We started with a group of people that circled around an idea to build a real track in this small but vibrant town.

When a group is given permission to dream they build off the positive energy from each other. The intersection of ideas, relationships, resources and connections begins to form a magical and an exciting journey.

The idea of getting a real track in Maupin has been talked about for over 20 years. The last meet in town was over 50 years ago.

We often give up on these ideas because there is no clear path to getting it done.

It takes money, resources, expertise, programming and a few change agents that live within the community or organization that have the ability to see the vision but also be open enough to invite others in to help them deliver upon that.

Today marks the 2 year anniversary of IncubatorU coming in to create a visioning and branding session. We pulled together local stakeholders together to Imagine the vision for Maupin Deschutes River Athletic Complex.

We mapped out what values are important to the community and what we felt the world should know about Maupin and how this project could make that a reality.

The values included the words: Community-Progressive-Authentic Oregon-Fitness-Empowerment( Youth and Health)-Regional Impact-Connected to the Outdoors

We made a decision in June to move forward and place some bets on getting the track complete by the 2022 season. We still have a chance with some final funding for the Beynon Surface and the Musco Lights that will truly transform this community's core. We are actively seeking additional donations through cash, stock foundational grants and partnerships with events as we map out the potential programming for DRAC. Reach out directly to info@maupindrac.org to help us get to the finish line.
